Cabin Privacy Policy — What Else?
Last updated: July 21, 2026 · Applies to the What Else? – Shared Grocery List app for Android and iOS.
The short version: we store only what the app needs to work — your chosen display name and the contents of your lists. No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and we never sell or share your data with anyone.
What we collect
- Display name — the name you choose when you first open the app. It can be anything; it does not need to be your real name.
- List content — the lists you create and the items on them (names, quantities, units, categories, notes), plus which lists you are a member of.
- Backup email (optional) — only if you choose to link an email address to protect your account. Without it, your account is fully anonymous.
That's all. We do not collect your contacts, location, device identifiers, advertising IDs, or usage analytics.
Where it's stored
Your data is stored with Supabase, our hosting provider, in a managed PostgreSQL database. All traffic between the app and the server is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to list data is enforced server-side: only members of a list can read or change it.
Some preferences (measurement units, sort order, favourites) are stored only on your device and never leave it.
How it's used
Solely to provide the app's features: syncing your lists across devices and sharing them with the people you invite. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any secondary purpose, and we never sell it or share it with third parties beyond the hosting provider above.
How long we keep it
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. Deleting your account (in the app: Settings → Delete account) permanently removes your profile, the lists you own, their items, and your authentication record. See account deletion for details and for requesting deletion without the app.
Your rights
If you are in a jurisdiction with data-protection laws such as the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, and export (data portability) your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@cabinlabs.ca — we respond within one month.
⚠️ A note on anonymous accounts: to act on a request, we must verify that the account is yours, which we do by matching the email you write from against the backup email linked to the account. Purely anonymous accounts (no backup email) cannot be identified from outside the app — for those, please use the in-app options (Settings), which include full account deletion.
Children
What Else? is a general-audience grocery list app. It does not target children and collects no more data from any user than described above.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated date above. Significant changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
